As global warming debate is going on, we see CO₂ reduction as a very sensitive topic. Everyone tries to claim his product brings CO₂ reduction opportunities; but what about its manufacturing process? March, 2010 - How do you see the upcoming K2010 Trade Show in Düsseldorf?

Every three years the Kunstoffe Trade Show takes place in Düsseldorf, Germany. This international Trade Fair is by far one of the biggest worlwide events for the Plastics and Rubber industry. But due to the tough situation last year, K2010 could be perceived as an unaffordable way of promoting new products and technologies. On the other side K2010 could also be seen as a fantastic economy rebound accelerator. How do you perceive the upcoming K2010? Will you be there? What do you expect from this international trade fair this year?

February, 2010 - What are your experiences in improving the laser-welding of plastic parts?

Laser-welding of plastic parts seems to have found its path among the other welding techniques like vibration or ultrasonic welding. Being the only contact-less welding technique laser-welding is suitable for aesthetical parts, with a proven efficiency on intricated design. However, this is also a highly technical process. There are ways to improve laser-welding of plastic parts, like playing on the laser beam, plastic material and pigments, part design. What are your experiences in improving the laser-welding of plastic parts?

January, 2010 - What are your conclusions on the use of all-electric injection molding machines?

Claimed as a competitive solution, the all-electric injection molding machines also proved to be much more suitable for specific applications like e.g. medical devices. Very clean manufacturing processes benefit from oil-free plastic processing machines, but are they truly competitive? Has the entire manufacturing process improved, and how? Thinwall molding brings many challenges, however it is also a required skill to reduce part weight and to increase appreciated design space in final parts. From the resin to the molding equipments via the processing settings, a complete set of parameters need to be defined and controlled. What are your recommendations to make this challenge a real success?
