Detroit SPE section spearheads Toys for Tots donation

DETROIT, Dec. 3 -- The Detroit section of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) has made its second annual contribution to the Toys for Tots program of the U.S. Marine Corps with the donation of 32,000 high-density polyethylene toy buses to be distributed to children throughout the Detroit area prior to Christmas. A ceremony marking the donation will be held Dec. 12 at toy maker American Plastic Toys Inc., Walled Lake, MI. To carry out the holiday project, PolyOne Distribution in Walled Lake, contributed approximately 10,000 lb of HDPE to American Plastic Toys, which in turn donated its injection machine time to mold the four components (base, black wheels, body, and doors) of the bright orange bus and perform the required assembly...
