Teijin to build polycarbonate resin plant in China

TOKYO, Dec. 4 -- Teijin Chemicals Ltd., a unit of Teijin's Plastic Business Group, plans to establish a polycarbonate resin production and sales company in Zhejiang Province, China. The new company is being established in response to growing global demand for PC, particularly in China. The new company, Teijin Polycarbonate China, will be established in January 2003. Production will start up in April 2005 with capacity of 50,000 metric tons/yr. In the second stage, Teijin will add another production line, doubling capacity to 100,000 metric tons. According to Teijin, about two million metric tons of polycarbonate resin is produced each year, with growth of 7%/yr. Demand in China is expected to grow...
