ALFA Moves Ahead with Acquisition of Wellman's PET Resin & its Production Facilities

ALFA, the Mexican industrial company, has announced that its subsidiary DAK Americas, LLC did not receive any objection from the U.S. commerce authorities to the proposed acquisition of the PET Resins business of Wellman, Inc. Therefore, it is moving forward with such transaction, which it expects to close by the end of August 2011. The acquisition includes the PET production facilities in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, U.S.A. The site has a production capacity of approximately 950 million lbs/yr (430 Ktons/yr) of PET and a work force of approximately 165 people. This facility will be integrated into DAK Americas Resins Business Unit which also has U.S. operations in Wilmington, Fayetteville, Charleston, and Columbia. ...
