In a paper first delivered at the Annual Congress of
the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (JSAE), in Yokohama, on May
19, 2004, S.W. Lee of Honam Petrochemical Corp., together with colleague
J.S. Kim, and I.S Han, K.Y. Jung and T. S. Lee of the Hyundai Motor Company,
described the rapid transition from PVC to olefinic materials for many
automotive interior and exterior parts - and presented the results of
performance tests demonstrating the superiority of TPOs (thermoplastic
olefins) and the powder slush molding process for instrument panel (IP)
skins.
