Challenge
To provide a clear, impact resin that does not discolor during the gamma radiation sterilization of medical devices.
Solution
NOVA Chemicals developed ZYLAR 390 a clear acrylic copolymer that offers medical device designers processing improvements and shows significantly less discoloration than the other available products. ZYLAR resins have a lower specific gravity than most competitive materials, which means more parts per pound. Molders also enjoy reduced drying requirements and machine wear. ZYLAR resins can be sterilized by gamma radiation and ethylene oxide and meet USP Class VI specifications.
