Akulon® PA6 barrier layers reduce oxygen permeation, increasing the shelf life of packaged foods that would otherwise deteriorate when exposed to the air. Akulon® PA6 provides improved mechanical strength and puncture and pin hole resistance, further reducting wastage. Printability and transparency are excellent. Typical packaged foods are fish, meat and cheese.
Akulon® PA6 enables barrier films for agricultural use with envrionmental benefits. Akulon® PA6 has low permeation to methyl bromide. When used to cover the soil together with the injection of fumigation chemicals, lower levels of the fumigant can be used, as the film keeps the active agent in the soil for longer.
Air bubble films are commonly used to protect objects from damage by mechanical forces. A drawback of regular bubble film, is the fact that the air pressure in the bubble decreases as a function of time, because of poor barrier properties of the polyethylene used. A solution is the application of Akulon® PA6, e.g. Akulon® F132-E, as barrier material in a coextruded multi layer film.
Ground coffee is extremely sensitive for oxidation, it is thus essential to prevent oxygen to get into contact with the product. Traditionally packaging concepts have been used, based on laminated structures with a coating of aluminum. PA6 which is exclusively made with BoPA grades is used to provide mechnical strength.
